Star Sisters: A Hub for the Turner Syndrome Community

Star Sisters is a private online community hosted by the Turner Syndrome Foundation for adult women with Turner syndrome (TS) and caregivers of a child with TS.

What’s Included in Star Sisters?

Star Sisters maintains a private Facebook group for members to share their stories, share updates about their journey, ask for advice, and receive support.

Additionally, on the last Friday of each month, Star Sisters hosts a Zoom hangout for members which includes various topics of conversation and activities. Attending these hangouts and being active in the Facebook group is a wonderful opportunity to socialize and make connections with fellow butterflies!

Quotes from Current Star Sisters Members

When asked about the role that Star Sisters has played in their lives so far, current members had the following insight to offer:

  • “It makes me feel less alone, and I learn so much from everybody.”
  • “It’s awesome that we can all get together and we are all there to support one another, and even though we do face certain difficulties, I think we’re also able to celebrate those victories together … we’re able to rally around one another and lift each other up.”
  • “It’s been very comforting.”
  • “The fact that it’s a community of people who understand the struggles, even if they’re not exactly the same.”

The Importance of Community

These quotes illustrate the benefits that individuals with Turner syndrome can gain from being part of this online community. Involvement in a community that truly understands you and what you are going through can make a positive difference.

As a member myself, this community has already made a positive impact in my life in just a few short months. I now have a group of people who will support me through all the highs and lows of being a butterfly! Being part of the monthly Zoom hangouts is like chatting with a group of old friends, even if it is your first time participating, because everyone is so welcoming.

I would encourage all of my fellow Turner syndrome butterflies to join Star Sisters. Turner syndrome can be a very isolating condition, and having a group of people who truly know what you’re going through can make a world of difference.
