Why Support the Card Auction?
We’re kicking off the Card Auction on Rare Disease Day, a reminder that Turner syndrome is a condition that many are still unaware of.
Turner syndrome affects 1 in every 2,000 live female births, yet awareness is still growing. Every bid placed in this auction helps ensure that no one has to face TS without access to information, support, and a connected community.
The Turner Syndrome Foundation operates solely on donations, and events like the Card Auction make it possible for us to continue providing:
Free, trusted educational resources for patients, families, and professionals
Personalized one-on-one support for individuals navigating a diagnosis
Patient and caregiver programs and workshops
Research and medical education initiatives that improve care and outcome
When you purchase a card, you receive something beautiful in the mail while helping to build a future of better care, earlier diagnosis, stronger research, and lifelong support.
How to Participate
Getting involved is easy, and every bid makes a difference.
Here’s how it works:
Browse the auction collection on Instagram when it opens on February 28 at 9:00 AM EST.
Bid on your favorite designs in the post comments (bidding instructions can be found on Instagram). Starting bids begin at just $5.
Winning bidders will be notified with payment instructions and receive their cards by mail after the auction closes.
All sales are final, and 100% of proceeds support the Turner Syndrome Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
A Global Outpouring of Generosity
A special thank you to Lori Kobular, a longtime TSF Board Member whose passion and leadership bring the Card Auction to life each year.
Lori shared why she runs the card auction each year, saying “the Card Auction is very important to me on several levels. First, I have always loved giving and receiving cards, they mean a great deal to me and I think I have saved every card anyone has ever given to me. I love seeing the personal messages that loved ones and friends write in the cards and seeing their handwriting!Â
Secondly, the Card Auction is not just a fundraiser but a fun way to raise awareness of TS to new people! I also love all the connections I make through the Card Auction. The Card Auction is a work of Heart for me and even though it is a lot of work and takes up a great deal of my time, I love hearing the different reasons why people donate cards.”
Her commitment is a powerful reminder that anyone can use their unique talents and interests to make a difference. Through Lori’s efforts, Turner syndrome has become known among the global card designer community and thousands of dollars have been raised to support our mission.
This year, we are overwhelmed with gratitude for the extraordinary response from designers around the world, each one donating their time, talent, and heartfelt creativity to support the TS community. Over $3,000 worth of cards have been donated!
These artists — many of whom serve on design teams for crafting companies that create dies, stamps, and card-making supplies — have poured love into every detail of the cards that are available to bid on.Â
Lori, the organizer of the event, says “I would like to thank all 54 of the very generous and caring Card Designers who have donated cards for the Turner Syndrome Awareness Card Auction!! Whether you sent 1 card or 170 cards your contribution has made this possible and I appreciate all of you so much!”
To every designer who contributed a card this year, we thank you for participating! Your kindness is felt across the entire Turner syndrome community.
