The presenter is an experienced occupational therapist who will provide an overview of the importance of driving, the skills required for driving, and the resources available. This will include things for new or aspiring drivers and older drivers.

What You Will Learn:

Driving is essential for many individuals, regardless of whether they have Turner Syndrome or not. The basic skills required for driving are the same for all drivers, and the resources that will be discussed can be utilized by many different individuals.

Driving is a complex activity, requiring skills that may be impacted by Turner syndrome (e.g., depth perception). There are resources available to support women with TS at various stages of life, from new drivers to older drivers, aimed at enhancing driving safety. This can include adaptive equipment in the vehicle as well as driving evaluations. This webinar outlines the significance of driving, skills required for safe driving, and available resources related to driving.

Who Should Attend:
Parents, future drivers, adult women with Turner syndrome, as well as education and allied health professionals, driving instructors, and occupational therapists.

About the Presenter:

Mary Edwards Collins, Ph.D., OTR/L, CAPS, is an occupational therapist who has been in academia full-time since January 2011. She also has Turner syndrome. With both a personal and professional background and practical experiences as a Driver’s Rehabilitation Professional, Mary has an understanding of the importance of driving and the ability to navigate the quality of life. It can impact an individual’s ability to engage in daily activities, whether at work, school, or in leisure and social settings.
