The Role of School Psychologists

The Role of School Psychologists

It is clear that the range of potential developmental and behavioral issues that may be present in girls with TS require a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach to support this population in the education system. School psychologists play an integral role in their advocacy for regular screenings, neuropsychological assessments (particularly at critical stages in schooling), classroom accommodations, and the implementation of evidence-based interventions. The Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Care of Girls and Women with Turner Syndrome includes specific recommendations for neuropsychological and psychological assessment tools. Although accommodations may not be required, an IEP or 504 educational plan may be appropriate for some girls with TS.
