Meet Chandra. In her story and video below she tells us about her TS diagnosis, the struggles she faced, and how she met the love of her life. She even offers some dating advice for those who feel they will never find their significant other. Like she said, love can find you when you least expect it.
Hello my name is Chandra and I was born in 1982. I have been small my whole life. I went to the doctor when I was 16 to find out why I was small and that is when my life changed. They ran test on me and the results came back as being diagnosed with classic Turner Syndrome. My life goals and dreams where changed for ever. Then I felt crushed, especially after being told I would not be able to have kids. I was a victim of bullying which made me feel alone. It was even harder because I had to learn about Turner Syndrome all on our own.
I graduated in 2001 from my high school and started working where my mom works. I enjoyed working with my mom and it made our relationship closer. I had been working there for almost a year and suddenly my life changed. I’ve been working beside a man that took the courage to call me and ask me out on a date. Of course I said yes! Later that year we got married and still together. As every couple, we’ve had our ups and downs but we made it through it. I have a stepson that I love with all my heart. He is growing up way to fast on us!
God truly puts people in your life when you don’t expect it. I know some of us ladies tend to get discourage about dating. Please don’t give up. Love will find you and won’t know it. I have been married for 15 years now and would not change it. I am glad my husband found me when he did. I do have a full time job and also dj/kj on the weekends. I love to sing and dance. My dream is to become a singer. I used to be shy and not speak up for myself and now that has changed. I speak up for myself now because if I don’t, no one will. This is a little bit of my story. I hope this is helpful and encouraging.
