A mother’s testimony

Thank you for writing. I have been trying to get my daughter involved with The Turner Syndrome Foundation. I received an email today also, from an intern there, who did update the information. I am very excited that she plans to contact my daughter, especially since they are close in age. I really think Shelly would benefit tremendously by talking to someone young that has T.S.

She has not been on this journey long, as she didn’t find out until she was 17. She handles it better than I in that I look at the consequences and she lives her life to the fullest. She recently had open heart surgery, which she came through with flying colors. My main concern is her lack of a doctor specializing in this. She has no insurance that will cover the treatments she started on a few years ago. I’m hoping that you will be able to guide her to a doctor in her area.  She has put herself through classes to obtain her CNA, and really would like to go to nursing school. I read somewhere there may be some type of financial aid or scholarships to that regard. I don’t know if that will be part of their discussion. If not, I would truly like some information on any opportunities she could apply for.

I apologize for rambling on. Nobody we know understands Turner Syndrome, thus it’s been hard to discuss questions and concerns with anyone.

Thank you again for reaching out. It means a very lot to me. – Concerned Mom
